• OOTDs for Summer!

Summer is such a fun time to experiment with new outfits and have the freedom to be able to try new clothes out without having to be bundled up from the cold. While there are so many different personal styles, we really wanted to highlight just how simple and easy very cute, and comfortable summer looks are to achieve.

This summer we are really focusing on the use of accessories to spice up even a very simple outfit. By adding a hat, bag, or sunglasses to an outfit, you can really elevate the look and perception of it to make it look much more intricate and thought out, even if it is just a t-shirt and shorts!

Notice how most of the outfits we have included really only consist of a top and a bottom but once the accessories are added it looks a lot more detailed.

This is the ultimate goal. For example, 2-piece sets like the blue one included above are so easy and convenient for summer, you can easily slip these on with a tank or tee, or put them right over your bathing suit.

Outfits like the “Cute and casual!” make sweats and loungewear feel put together by simply mixing high and low clothing pieces. Adding nice jewelry and a bag to a pair of sweat shorts allows you to still be both comfortable and stylish.

We also included some bathing suit inspiration, one-pieces can be so fun and elegant and allow you to feel so confident. Paired with a 2 piece set or even an overall moment as pictured above make for a great pool or beach fit!

    By: London A.

Looking for new & popular shops near the San Jose State Campus? It’s difficult to be a broke college student who also wants to be a fashionista and save money. This blog is for you, if you’re a broke college student seeking for inexpensive clothes. Your ultimate guide to EVERY spring fashion trends in the San Jose area.

As someone who enjoys feeling the best in my body, shopping and fashion are a MUST. Not originally being from the Bay Area.. I was unaware of the most popular shops near the San Jose State campus. This list of stores are the most well known in downtown San Jose for young girls in their 20’s.

Zara is one of the most popular brands for college aged women. Zara is an affordable fashion brand. You may get stylish items at a great price while also helping to have a good influence on cotton communities that are cultivated environmentally.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: Zara is my low-cost fashion weakness. I can’t help but appreciate the fashionable, on-trend garments that seem like they belong on the front of a magazine every time I walk into a Zara shop or peruse their online inventory. One thing to keep in mind: Zara has incredibly contemporary (and sometimes wacky) fashions, so going in with an idea of what you like will help you get the most bang for your buck.

I also adore Zara’s more understated but as fabulous basics: think smart trench coats, stylish shirts, and cut jeans.

Did you think I’d write a piece about inexpensive clothes and leave Forever 21 out? Forever 21 is America’s most popular discount clothes retailer, with its ultra-trendy look and even cheaper costs! Forever 21 provides unbeatable online and in-store bargains. They have everything you need, from that little black dress to intimates that go with anything! They cater to a wide range of styles, including bohemian, athletic, preppy, and more. Forvever 21 is always my go to for festival outfits or just cute, comfy sweat sets.

Finally, I must mention that I like Forever 21’s gorgeous fabric tote bags and shoes, which come in a range of stylish patterns and colors. Their platform boots are to die for!

H&M is the place to go if you want high-quality clothing at a reasonable price. They’ve also created a Garment Collection program, where they’ll give you 15% off your purchase for every bag of textiles you bring in for recycling!

They have everything-from jewelry to summer dresses all at affordable prices! H&M is always having sales up to $1 for some items in the store. There is a variety of colorful & trendy phone cases, claw clips, and layered jewelry that are perfect to accessorize with! They do collabs with well-known designers, such as Simone Rocha and Johanna Ortiz.

  • Shopping Sustainably in your 20s

    By: Lindsay V.

Did you know that it can take more than 700 gallons of water to make a single t-shirt? The fashion industry itself is the 2nd largest consumer of the world’s water supply.

As someone who has always loved fashion, as I’ve grown up, sustainability has become a major concern for me and the future of our world. With fast fashion cycles becoming more rapid than ever, styles and trends are becoming popular and falling out of popularity in months or even weeks. As a woman in her 20s, who is a full-time student and also has a job and other extracurricular, sometimes the price and convenience of buying clothes from Shein or Amazon is just too good to beat. But along with this convenience we are sacrificing sustainability, which greatly impacts the well-being of our planet, especially if we all rely on these more “convenient” options for fashion. Waste produced from textiles in the United States has doubled in the past 2 decades. It’s time that we start practicing more eco-friendly, more sustainable options when it comes to fashion. Here’s some tips from me, another 20-something year old, who wants to try to implement sustainability into my life.

    1. Shop secondhand/vintage
This one may seem like a no-brainer so I knew the list needed to start off with this. Thrifting and shopping secondhand has increasingly become more popular in recent years. Most cities have thrift stores like GoodWill, Savers, Salvation Army Stores, etc. Don’t have any of these options close to you? You’re in luck, because shopping secondhand has become much more accessible with apps/websites like Depop, The RealReal, ThredUp, and Poshmark.
    2. Create a capsule wardrobe
Shopping with this mindset has really help me cut back on excessively buying expensive clothing and getting coaxed into following hyper-sensitive fast fashion trends. In order to create a capsule wardrobe, when buying new pieces ask yourself,”Could I imagine myself wearing this again next year, and the year after that? Is the quality of the item good enough to last until next season? How many different ways can I wear it? Why am I buying this?” You must really decide for yourself if the piece is worth investing your money into.
    3. Renting clothing
There are new platforms that are rising into popularity like Nuuly, which allow you to pick a few styles every month to “rent” for a subscription fee. This allows you to wear trendy items but not be committed to making them apart of your closet forever.
    4. Learn more about the materials that go into clothing
Some materials that are used to make clothing contain micro-plastics, are made of syntethics that take years to break down, and can even contain harmful pesticides/chemicals. Learn about what materials you should be avoiding when buying new clothing.
    5. Ensure your clothing has a second-life
Often times, so many clothes are donated to thrift stores that they might not even see the racks of the stores.Instead of throwing away clothes you no longer want to wear, consider selling them on Depop or to consignment stores. For clothes that are worn, or could no longer be worn due to need for repairs, often times there a businesses, seamstresses, people who DIY, etc. who could benefit from using them as fabric scraps and could use them to give tethered clothing another use.

New sustainable clothing is not always accessible to everyone due to pricing, but here are a few brands that have environmentally conscious sectors.
